Hi! My name is Mikayla Ribeiro. I’m 24, born and raised in Curaçao, and currently doing my rMA in Literary Studies. As the University of Amsterdam increasingly recruits international students, it is important for the institution to structurally and critically adapt as well.
This means supporting faculty, staff, and student collectives working to decolonize education, ensuring accessible mental health care especially for students of color and international students, critically addressing bilingual education, and permanently establishing Afro-Dutch studies. I look forward to promoting community wellbeing and decolonial knowledge over corporate and imperial interests in the Faculty of the Humanities. Lastly, I would love to see this coming FGw council actively representing the diverse needs and dreams of our student body.
