“The Humanities are essential to our society and should be protected, valued and fought for”

My name is Liesje Verhave, I’m 19 years old and a second year Literary and Cultural Analysis student. This year I was a council assistant and daily board member in our student council. The students are what make this faculty great, therefore we should have stronger and better student rights. Our faculty has to stop investing into programs that go against qualitative and specialized education. Increasing the quality of our education will mean decolonizing our curriculum and keeping our faculty relevant will have to include prioritizing subjects like sustainability and decolonization, not only in our education but also in our policy. I oppose the ongoing commodification of education, money should not go before student experience and academic worth. TOF will fight for the humanities, and therefore fight for you.
